Two weeks ago, I saw an appeal for more condiments and Halal canned food on the Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift Campaign on Facebook, so I decided to bring Noah to Kallang Wave’s NTUC FairPrice Xtra, to purchase some items for donation.
The NTUC FairPrice Xtra there has car-trolleys (trolleys with kids’ ride-on cars attached to them) and kid-sized supermarket trolleys available for rental, with a $10 refundable deposit, to be paid at the Customer Service counter. Noah loves the car-trolleys, and always prays fervently to get one when we visit the NTUC FairPrice Xtra at Nex, but I thought it might be more fun for him to use the kid-sized supermarket trolley this time round.
We headed straight to the condiments and canned food aisles, where we selected a few items.
Shopping
Selecting the Halal canned food
With his full trolley
Distracted by the keyboard along the way
Donating the trolley full of goods
Posing with one of the BB boys on duty
Noah might be too young to fully understand what we did that day, but I hope to make this an annual affair, and to teach him a little more about what it means to give to those in need.
There are just a few more days left to donate, so do drop by one of the NTUC FairPrice outlets listed below, from 11am to 9pm, to make your donation. If you are unable to go down personally, you can still contribute by donating online or at any AXS Station.
